information gathering operating budget researchThe goal for the project is to determine how Hillside Park's funding compares to other parks in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that are of similar size and offer similar facilities and amenities. The project team will identify 8-10 other municipal parks within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that are similar in size and offer similar facilities and amenities as Hillside Park and to collect information about how each such park is funded. A matrix should be created to capture key details about each of the identified parks, to compare and contrast them to Hillside Park and to ensure that parks included in the analysis are as similar to Hillside Park as possible. For each such park, gather information about the park's operating budget and how the park is funded, including sources of revenue such as municipal contributions. Analyze funding information to identify the spending per acre, per capita, as a percentage of the municipal budget, and in any other ways that are pertinent to the analysis. Prepare a report comparing and contrasting the funding of these parks to Hillside Park.
Tasks learners will need to complete to achieve the project goal include:
- Researching and identifying 8-10 other municipal parks within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that are similar in size and offer similar facilities and amenities as Hillside Park.
- Preparing a matrix of key characteristics of each park (ie acreage, fields and other sports facilities, recreational activities supported, etc), and populate with data from Hillside Park and each of the other identified parks.
- Gathering information about each identified park's operating budget and how the park is funded, including sources of revenue such as municipal contributions.
- Analyzing funding information to identify the spending per acre, per capita, as a percentage of the municipal budget, and in any other ways that are pertinent to the analysis.
- Draw conclusions about how Hillside Park is funded compared to other parks identified.
- Compiling the gathered information and analysis into a comprehensive report.
Final deliverables should include:
- A comprehensive report detailing the findings of the research, information gathered about each park's operating budget and funding sources, and the analysis of and conclusions associated with funding information.
Learners will be provided with background information about Hillside Park and will have access to AAJRB Board members for consultation and feedback.
